I open the episode by setting the stage, acknowledging that our journey has been far from perfect, yet filled with divine moments. I emphasize the importance of sharing the full story, not just the highlights, to provide a more authentic and relatable perspective on manifesting relationships and personal growth.
Navigating Divorce: The End of a Relationship and Start of a New One
As the conversation unfolds, I share about my move to Mexico, where I met and married my ex husband. This part of my journey provided me the opportunity to grow and heal… Paving the way for everything that came next. I’m so grateful for my first marriage because I learned a lot about myself and navigating relationships. I learned how to hold space for myself and for others. But after a few years together being so committed to making my marriage work (because it’s what I promised), I didn’t realize that deep down I yearned for something else. I tried many different things to heal my relationship and grow together but it takes two to make it work and my ex wasn’t willing to do the inner work to be better together. (Not to mention our chemistry wasn’t that great to begin with – I think the relationship just kind of ran it’s course).
This whirlwind experience set the stage for the chaos that followed… Growing closer to my best friend, having a wild night out together, realizing my marriage was NOT it… And finally asking for a divorce.
I then introduce Alexis, my wife, adding a whole new layer to the narrative. We share our first impressions of each other, which were marked by a sense of curiosity and intrigue. Alexis, coming from the fast-paced and guarded environment of Las Vegas, found my openness and vulnerability both refreshing and challenging to navigate.
We delve deeper into our personal journeys, highlighting our struggles with control, vulnerability, and the need to shed layers of our former selves. I describe my journey of becoming a “recovering control freak,” while Alexis shares her experience of breaking free from a tumultuous relationship, setting the stage for our own transformative connection.
The turning point in our friendship came when we both found ourselves navigating the complexities of our respective partnerships. As we shared our experiences and concerns, a deep bond began to form, and the lines between friendship and something more started to blur.
The Moment I Knew
Our narrative culminates in a magical moment on Alexis’ birthday, where we shared an intimate and life-changing experience in the backseat of the car… The first time I felt fireworks. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of our journey as a couple, a journey that I promise to share in the upcoming episodes of the podcast.
Throughout the episode, Alexis and I demonstrate a remarkable level of vulnerability, honesty, and self-awareness. Our willingness to open up and share our personal struggles, triumphs, and the evolution of our relationship is a testament to the power of authentic storytelling.
This blog post serves as an invitation for you to join us on our continued journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and the manifestation of a deeply fulfilling relationship. By peeling back the layers and sharing our full story, we offer a unique and inspiring perspective on the transformative power of love, vulnerability, and the pursuit of one’s true self.
